Breathless until the end (2006)

Silicosis is a devastating occupational lung disease that has affected thousands of mine workers in Rajasthan, India. The disease is caused by inhaling silica dust, which is commonly found in sandstone mining, quarrying, construction, and sculpture making. Many workers in Rajasthan are exposed to dangerous levels of silica dust due to a lack of adequate protective measures and awareness about the dangers of silica exposure. The consequences of silicosis can be devastating and fatal, with the disease causing inflammation and scarring in the lungs, leading to progressive breathing difficulties, a reduced ability to perform physical activities, and, eventually, death.
